Wellness Shot and Whiskey Immunity: a spicey recipe to "boozest" your immune system.

Updated: Dec 7, 2023

When you feel unwell, a nice warm cup of herbal tea can be just what you need to feel better. Herbs are not only soothing but can also help you to fight off infection with their anti-viral and immune stimulating properties. This warming beverage is perfect for any viral infection where you can't get warm, you want to support a fever, and help your immune system fight off the bug that's making you feel bad.

Dr. Lexi's Whiskey Immune Tea

* You do not have to add the shot of whiskey to get the health benefits of this drink.

6 cups of water

2-3 large oranges freshly squeeze

6 Tbsp of Fresh ginger, sliced

3 tbsp of dried Rosemary

4 inches of orange zest 4 inches of lemon zest

1 tsp of local honey per cup

Optional:

2 teabags of any of the following teas: Gypsy Cold, Throat Coat, Immune Boost, Breathe Deep

Lemon

1 shot of Whiskey or herbal liquor

In a large pot, add 6 cups of water and all the ingredients excepts the tea bags, lemon, honey, or alcohol. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to simmer covered x 10 minutes. Then add the tea bags of choice based on how you are feeling. You can go ahead and add 1 freshly squeezed lemon into the mix or add per your personal taste. This is the same recommendation for the honey. I recommend 1 tsp per cup of tea.

Once you've made your tea, add 1 shot of your favortie bourbon or whiskey to help soothe a sore throat, calm your nerves, and help you sleep.

*My favorite herbal Elixir is Becherovka, the "cure all" remedy from the Czech Repbulic with 20 herbs and spices.
