Every cell in your body contains mitochondria, the area that makes ATP or cellular energy. In fact, your heart contains the highest concentration of mitochondria because its a pump, beating non-stop for the duration of your life! That's a lot of energy expenditure, hence why there is a high concentration of this energy producing organelle in the cell.

Within the mitochondria wall is the need for Coenzyme Q10.

So how does this apply to you?
Fatigue, brain fog, poor exercise performance, and decrease in stress tolerance are all complaints that can benefit from taking CoQ10.
Essentially, CoQ10 is boosting mitochondrial function and therefore helping the body to create more energy on a cellular level. Unlike caffeine and other stimulants that give you a temporary boost, CoQ10 is fueling a much deeper part of our body and therefore doesn't leave you with that "crash" you so often feel with other stimulant.
Beyond energy, however, the mitochondria is fueling the cell for replication and repair. This can be helpful in exercise, chronic inflammatory conditions, and any time the body needs to heal an injured area.
CoQ10 can protect and repair the body from injury or damage.
When to consider taking CoQ10?
Cardiovascular Disease
Neurodegenerative Diseases
Cognitive Decline or Mental Health issues (Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Stress)
Fertility
Chronic Fatigue
High Performers, Athletes where you are putting more demand on the body.
What foods contain CoQ10?
Animal protein and organ meat will contain the highest CoQ10 concentration.
Vegetarian? The following are highest in CoQ10
Parsley
Broccoli
Avocado
Sweet potato
There are lots of CoQ10 Supplements out there? Which CoQ10 is the best?
We used to think that ubiquinol, the reduced form of CoQ10, was more bioavailable than ubiquinone. In fact, the body needs to convert Ubuiquinone into ubiquinol in order to be use. Overall, the body does a pretty good job of doing this. Therefore, taking either ubiquinone or ubiquinol is fine. You will get the same benefit.
As for leveling up your CoQ10:
CoQ10 has been shown to be more powerful when combined with PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone), another anti-oxidant and longevity vitamin.
Now we have a new player on the field: Geranylgeraniol (GG)
By adding CoQ10 + PQQ + GG , you are leveling up your Coq10 supplement quite a bit!
Geranylgeraniol is an essential building block for Coenzyme Q10 and provides a much broader added benefit.
CoQ10 plays mainly on the level of the mitochondria as demonstrated above. GG not only supports mitchondria, it also improves calcium and bone metabolism, and does a much better job at protein synthesis for maintaining muscle.
This is huge for longevity!
As we age and our hormones are dropping, osteoporosis and muscle atrophy occur. Cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline increases.
For this reason, taking a CoQ10 supplement that contains both PQQ and GG will level up your anti-aging and cellular energy support!
